Clear sky with no sign of cloud, I prepared myself for the day. Zhabdrung Kuchoed (Death Anniversary of Zhabdrung), a very auspicious day to remember and pay homage to the Master of Bhutan, Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, I already had plan to visit Phajoding Monastery above the Thimphu City, with my Cousin Tandin and Uncle Sangay.

Until the time for the start of 3 Hours Hike, I was as one of three, but then we were joined soon by my youngest brother Karma (Daza) and Tandin's brother, Dorji. We started our hike from home at 0900 hrs, then after an hour of hike, we knocked the base camp of the real hike to the Monastery. It was pleasuring tire to be hiking on the trail after long time of gap. Tandin and I was left behind by other of our team. On the way, we (Tandin & I) made few videos with snaps of useless things...lolz, we landed up taking 2 cans of Juices each and packet of Chips which was supposedly to be for other members of our team.

At 1200 Noon we caught them up at the destination, and then no sooner did we reach there, Daza and Azha Sangay was hungry so we had our lunch before visiting the monastery. We then visited the four lhakhangs on the hill top, took some photos, played along with Yaks there and then hooped down the way back where Tandin and I was the first one among us to reach to base. What supposing we did on our way back was, we collected any un-degradable waste and brought down to the base where other officials could handle it easily. Of course we encountered with other pilgrims on the way up and back down, most of them students of various schools of Thimphu, but I observed them to be little bit of reluctant to maintain the cleanliness of area and trail. Hoping that we would be able to show them a good example, we started picking up all the waste and infact, the waste being thrown right away by some students right in front of us.

We came all way long down the trail trying to make it as clean as we could and then walked back to home via Takin Zoo. So tiring, but of mind satisfactory day.

Cleaning Campaign in Thimphu City

Fighting against the scorching sun heat and dusty winds, enthusiasts of Guiding, keeping in mind the value of cleanliness of our city, we began the day with our Councillor distributing Hand gloves provided by Thimphu City Corporation. No one of the trainees ever imagined that we would be handling nasty items on the day, infact ladies used Pad, that too around the Stupas and religious sites.

Since 5th April 2012, I have been attending Tourist Guiding Course Class organised by Tourism Council of Bhutan. Coming to topics of various interests related to tourism, I have been further enhanced in knowledge in Tourism Policy, First Aid, Dirglam Namzha, History and many Bhutanese Folk Story to be shared with my Guest when I become a Licensed Guide.

Today, the class was unusual. Unlike all days of class with Presentation and Q&N, today the class was dispersed for Cleaning Campaign. The campaign was organised by the Trainee Representatives of the Two Batches. The first Batch (My batch) started the cleaning from Swimming Pool area towards Memorial Chhorten, then to Lungtenzampa and then to TCB office along side the river of Thimphu (Wang-chhu).

During the time, we were accompanied by officials of TCB, including of Bhutanese and Foreign Staffs. We collected any un-biodegradable waste that we came across and found more then expected amount of Plastics (Polythene) Products. It was quite disheartening to myself that my city was of such a mess with little contribution with each individual in keep our city Clean and Green. The worst case scenario was when I with one of my friends went to stupa below Lungtenzampa bridge was filled of unwanted wastes. The Second batch started from the BBS Tower (Sangaygang) area, then to part of Chubachu and TCB Office. Few of them were separated to take care of Zilukha area too. It was so much of proud to see our fellow mates brought a lots of huge bags filled with waste back to our meeting place.

Back when all reached TCB office, we were offered an "unwelcomed Lunch" (Sorry but it's the fact). I say it as "Unwelcomed Lunch" because, there was no plate where we could have the lunch. I was not so happy and felt as if like the lunch for beggars. Not to speak too much on this, the over all satisfaction that I received from the cleaning Campaign was great. It was of self satisfactory for making contribution to my Nation.
